This Sunday we will be observing both Palm Sunday and Passion Sunday. We will begin with a procession of the palms and then during the Gospel reading we will hear Matthew's Passion story. (Don't worry you won't have to stand up the
whole time.)
Tomorrow night is Come to Friday Dinner and it starts at 5pm. Food will be served until 6pm (or until gone). Baked chicken, fettuccine, vegetables and a roll.
Thank you to all our soup makers this Lenten season and to our wonderful hospitality/kitchen crew!
Next week is Holy Week and our services on Thursday and Friday evening start at 6:30pm. There is no meal before either of them. Easter Sunday is 8am at Saltese cemetery and 10am at Advent.
The youth breakfast time has changed slightly, they will begin serving at 9am and then they will serve after the 10am service until 11:30am.
Thank you to everyone for their donations to the Child Center Easter Egg Hunt that will be happening this Saturday.
Also this Saturday we look forward to being a part of our Intern, Brendan Weichert, being ordained into the ELCA as a Minister of Word and Sacrament. We hope to see many of you there at St. Luke's!!
Lord,
You are holy.
You are glorious.
You are God.
This week, I recall what You have done for me.
I take this moment to look and remember.
I picture the colt You rode through the streets of Jerusalem
with people lined up, watching expectantly.
Raising their branches and saying “Hosanna!”
A prophecy fulfilled.
I praise You for being the Holy Son of David.
The One who has come for us.
I can imagine You sitting at the table.
The night of Your betrayal, among Your disciples.
“This is my body.”
“This is my blood.”
The gravity of these promises, the disciples do not yet understand.
We come to the table, thanking You for the bread and the cup.
A sacrifice we also cannot fully comprehend.
Blessings,
Pastor Matt
